Zvuchat’ stems from Russian and translates to “sound”. The project explores different ways of sound perception, while focusing on the combination of visualization and sound. One of the addressed mediums is an interactive installation, where the user can interact with the sounds through his-her position in the room. It incorporates two Kinect-based functions. The first one is for “single-use”, and it enables users to manipulate the speed of a song through their position in the room, while interacting with the visualization at the same time. The visualization consists of a representation of eleven different types of sounds, which combine to create a visual translation of the song. The second function is the “multiple-use”, which enables the room to react to the positions of a maximum of three people. Users can thus activate singular sounds or even experiment with different combinations, depending on their respective position on the room.
